Baseball Recap: Patton Victorious

Patton posted their closest victory since April 8, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Mitchell Mountaineers 6-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Mountaineers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brady Davis and Cole Attaway made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Davis pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Attaway struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). At the plate, Davis scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Attaway got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Landry Duvall and Wyatt Hullette did most of the damage at the plate: Duvall went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Hullette scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Hullette a new career-high. Cohen Christian also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Patton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only posted an OBP of .226.

The victory got Patton back to even at 2-2. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Patton will square off against East Rutherford at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. East Rutherford will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Patton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mitchell, they will challenge Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Freedom knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Mitchell likes a good challenge.
