Blue Ridge is 0-8 against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Ridge Knights will head out on the road to take on the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights at 7:30 p.m. Blue Ridge will be strutting in after a victory while Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond will be coming in after a loss.
Last Monday, Blue Ridge beat Villa Grove 30-22. The victory was just what Blue Ridge needed coming off of a 58-35 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Cumberland on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond had strong showings from Claire Seal, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds, and Sophie Monts, who scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Monts scored 15 or more points. Anna Rawlins was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Blue Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.
Blue Ridge took a serious blow against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 66-17. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Blue Ridge was down 46-10.
