V Section I recap October 22, 2013
Red Mesa added to the longest winning streak in V Section I this week by beating Many Farms, 26-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Redskins.
Tuba City fell to Hopi 44-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brenton Goldtooth was a bright spot for the Warriors, as he ran for 197 yards in the loss.
Goldtooth provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Tuba City fell to the Bruins.
Sergio Oliver was the best wideout in the league this week as Rick Benjamin's team fell to Hopi. Oliver tallied 1 reception for 17 yards. Jeremy Yazzie helped Tuba City's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.
Tuba City's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Roland Becenti has thrown for 1,201 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Yazzie has 19 catches for 540 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Red Mesa takes on Steve Saban's team. At the moment, Toqua-Hanai Ticeahkieand's team is in third, while the Bruins are in first.
Hopi led V Section I in scoring this week by notching 44 points on the Warriors. Blake Sekaquaptewa threw for 19 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 120 yards in the win.
