The Bayard Tigers lost against the Hemingford Bobcats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Bayard was outmatched by Hemingford on the road and fell 77-35. Bayard was down 61-33 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Bayard's loss came despite strong showings from Caleb Leonard and Joe Hopkins. Leonard scored 12 points along with four steals, while Hopkins scored eight points. Leonard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Bayard has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Hemingford, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayard is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Perkins County on February 6th. The timing is sure in Perkins County's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Bayard has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Hemingford, they will face off against Morrill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Morrill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
