The Manzano Monarchs lost against the Eldorado Golden Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Manzano took a serious blow against Eldorado, falling 74-27. Manzano was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-12.
Despite the loss, Manzano still got an impressive performance from Zaria Gomez, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Gomez scored a full 63% of Manzano's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bella Hines had an outrageously good game for Eldorado as she went 7 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points and 2 assists. Another player making a difference was Chioma Holyfield, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Manzano's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Eldorado, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Manzano will head out on the road to face off against Albuquerque Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eldorado, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Volcano Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
