On Thursday, Monument Academy was beaten by Miami-Yoder 59-18. Monument Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-7.
Miami-Yoder got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Howard out in front who scored 16 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Howard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jel Wallerstedt, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Monument Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Miami-Yoder, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Monument Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Liberty Tree Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. As for Miami-Yoder, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cripple Creek-Victor at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
