Biloxi and St. Martin are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Biloxi Indians will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Biloxi posted their biggest win since December 28, 2023 on Friday. Everything went their way against D'Iberville as Biloxi made off with a 58-34 victory. Given Biloxi's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while D'Iberville is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Biloxi's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aaliyah Davison, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Zaniya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Amari Merideth, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, St. Martin entered their tilt with Ocean Springs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. St. Martin breezed by Ocean Springs at home to the tune of 57-10.
Biloxi's victory was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. As for St. Martin, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Biloxi came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Martin in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 31-29. Does Biloxi have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Martin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
