There's no place like home for The Pelham Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 34-28 victory over Chilton County on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pelham also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Pelham can attribute much of their success to Kalib Porter, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Grayson was another key contributor, rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the defeat, Chilton County saw an underclassman step up: Logan Coppedge threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.2 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Riddick, who picked up 46 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Pelham's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Chilton County, Calera, and Chelsea. As for Chilton County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pelham will challenge Spain Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Spain Park has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 165 points over their last four matchups. As for Chilton County, they will head out on the road to face off against Marbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
