Marshall hasn't had much luck against Eagle Rock recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Barristers will head out to take on the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Marshall is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Franklin on Wednesday. They lost 8-1 to the Panthers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Marshall saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Saucedo, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Knights.
Marcella Terrazas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Melissa Terrazas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Peyton Oviedo was another key player, earning one run and three stolen bases.
Eagle Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.
Eagle Rock pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Marshall couldn't quite get it done against Eagle Rock in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 4-0. Can the Barristers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
