Fans got a thrill when Brandon Jones and Josh Jackson connected against Wasco. The connection went for 83 yards, the longest such play in South Sequoia this season.
Bakersfield Christian scaled the state rankings by moving to 248 from 312 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Tigers 47-20.
Jones threw for 401 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was 18-37 with 1 interception.
Jackson was the best receiver in the league this week as Bakersfield Christian bested Wasco. Jackson racked up 5 receptions for 141 yards. Zach Balfanz helped Bakersfield Christian's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 103 yards.
Jerald Pierucci's team's Jones and Jackson led South Sequoia in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Jones has thrown for 1,984 yards this season, while Jackson has 25 catches for 599 yards. Isaiah Sharp from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 889 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against South, Jones is short just 16 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Shafter takes on Arvin. The Generals are currently in third, while the Bears are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Wasco takes on Taft. The Tigers have allowed 124 points this season, while the Wildcats have given up 130. Wasco allowed 47 points last week as it fell to Bakersfield Christian.
The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Tigers, 47-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
