They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Marissa/Coulterville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Steeleville beat New Athens 4-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Corinne Mueller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
Mueller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Wolf, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Marissa/Coulterville pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Steeleville, their record is now 7-8.
Everything went Marissa/Coulterville's way against Steeleville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Marissa/Coulterville made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Meteors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
