The Plantation Colonels lost against the Western Wildcats back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Plantation ended up on the wrong side of a tough 34-14 walloping at the hands of Western. Plantation has not had much luck with Western recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Plantation lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jorge "jt" tabora ii. Despite the final result, he rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 222 yards and a touchdown.
Koby Howard went supernova for Western, picking up 243 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Davi Belfort, who threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.
Another reason for the win was Western's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Julian Mendez and Jacob Joseph who racked up four sacks between them.
Plantation has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Western, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Plantation will head out on the road to face off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Plantation likes a good challenge. As for Western, they will be playing at home against Cypress Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Bay is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
