The Goliad Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mathis 65-32 on the road. Goliad pushed the score to 55-27 by the end of the third, a deficit Mathis had little chance of recovering from.
Mathis' loss came despite strong showings from Mia Adames and Marivel Martinez. Adames scored 13 points, while Martinez scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season.
Goliad is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-16 record this season. As for Mathis, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-23.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goliad will take on Aransas Pass at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mathis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Odem at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Odem has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
