Kameron Wrightner had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 243 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 54 yards. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 30 passing touchdowns on the season. Tradarian Ball was another key player, picking up 77 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Texas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Texas' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Duncan McGhee and Bralen Cochran, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Despite a strong season so far, Nacogdoches has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were beaten by Mt. Pleasant 48-21 on Friday.
Texas will have to contain Rj Whitaker as he made an impact in Nacogdoches' last game. He picked up 93 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in two rushing scores. Whitaker got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 80 yards. Micah Lockett also helped out with an impressive 101 receiving yards.
Nacogdoches' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Texas, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Texas has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Nacogdoches, though, as they've been averaging only 95.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
