Basketball Recap: Gar-Field Skates Past Lewis with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gar-Field). They breezed by the Lewis Lancers to the tune of 73-32 on Saturday. Given the Red Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Lancers are ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Gar-Field to victory were Braylan Bell and Jonathan Jason Bell. Braylan went 7 of 17 en route to 14 points and seven steals, while Jonathan Jason went 6 of 13 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelus Meade, who posted eight points.

Gar-Field smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Gar-Field's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Lewis, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Gar-Field and Ballou will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Gar-Field is facing Ballou at the right time seeing as Ballou is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lewis, they will square off against Falls Church at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lewis will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Falls Church will have lost five straight heading into Friday's contest.
