The Maiden Blue Devils lost against the St. Stephens Indians back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Maiden took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Stephens. Maiden has struggled against St. Stephens recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Maiden's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khiara Culliver, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Culliver set a new season high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Willow Bass, who scored 14 points.
Leading St. Stephens to victory were Aubrey Gibbs and Molli Harris. Gibbs scored 17 points along with five steals, while Harris scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least 25% of St. Stephens' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Blevins, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Maiden's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for St. Stephens, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Maiden won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Burns at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. St. Stephens will be home for the holidays to greet West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
