West Rowan is a perfect 10-0 against Central Cabarrus since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. West Rowan is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
West Rowan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over Northwest Cabarrus on Tuesday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Maddox Moore made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.

Pope went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Knox went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Knox a new career-high. Cole Blevins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
West Rowan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Norman Charter on Tuesday, taking the game 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Keyen Elbe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Elbe was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, James Cloutier III looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Central Cabarrus is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-11 otherwise.
Elbe wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paulie Coubal, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
West Rowan's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Central Cabarrus, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
Central Cabarrus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Rowan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Central Cabarrus, though, as they've only averaged .286. Will they be able to contain West Rowan's hitters?
West Rowan took their win against Central Cabarrus when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 14-2 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
