Sonora and Eldorado are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2016, but likely not for long. The Broncos will challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sonora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Sonora made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Christoval, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Broncos put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 20-14 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Broncos needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Stefani Trevino and Valerie DeLeon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Trevino struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and 13 unearned) runs off 12 hits. Meanwhile, DeLeon pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Trevino scored three runs while going 3-for-6, while DeLeon scored two runs while going 1-for-6. What's more, Trevino posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Sonora got a massive performance out of Aanz'Leigh Abalos, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Abalos a new career-high. Liliana Gallegos was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
Sonora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They got six more hits than Christoval's also-impressive total of 13.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 24 runs the game before, Eldorado was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 17-1 to Colorado. The Eagles have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Sonora's record now sits at 14-9. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Sonora took their victory against Eldorado when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 23-13 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
