The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Olmsted, who took down 178th ranked North Olmsted, 23-15. Tom Tupa threw for 263 yards and one touchdown in the win.
Midpark moved up to 157 from 200 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southwestern. The Meteors were able to make the jump by beating Steele 56-30.
Eric Lamb and Jordan Irvin gave the Comets a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Lamb threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns, while Irvin ran for 123 yards. Lamb also contributed to the rushing game with 15 yards on the ground.
Tim Tupa was the best wideout in the league this week as Brecksville-Broadview Heights defeated the Eagles. Tupa tallied seven receptions for 113 yards. Tyler Tarnowski helped Brecksville-Broadview Heights' passing attack out by catching five balls for 68 yards.
The Bees' Tupa and Tupa have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tupa has thrown for 1920 yards this season, while Tupa, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 39 catches for 606 yards. Irvin from Steele leads the league in rushing with 591 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Chad DiFranco's team, Tupa is short just 80 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in Southwestern this week will be when Avon Lake takes on Westlake. As it stands, the Shoremen are in third, while the Demons are in first.
Midpark made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,547 from 3,173. The advance stemmed from a 56-30 victory over the Comets last week.
