Corydon Central has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Providence Pioneers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Corydon Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Corydon Central earned a 50-38 victory over Columbus East. That's two games straight that Corydon Central has won by exactly 12 points.
Corydon Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Groover out in front who scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Groover is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Josie Vaughn was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 assists and 5 steals.
Even though Providence has not done well against Trinity Lutheran recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Providence managed a 69-63 win over Trinity Lutheran. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Corydon Central's win lifted them to 4-2 while Columbus East's loss dropped them down to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Corydon Central against Providence in their previous meeting back in November of 2020 as the squad secured a 61-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corydon Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
