Gateway Charter won the last time they faced South Fort Myers and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Gateway Charter Griffins took their matchup with ease, bagging a 72-35 victory over the South Fort Myers Wolfpack. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season.

Gateway Charter was led to victory by Ellie Morin and Ashanti Taylor. Morin posted 18 points, while Taylor put up 16 points. Taylor continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Yaneila Roman was another key player, putting up ten points.

When it comes to explaining why South Fort Myers lost, don't look at Mariah Thorne. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 51.4% of South Fort Myers' points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Meria Church, who had six points and eight boards.

With the win, Gateway Charter broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-8. As for South Fort Myers, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Gateway Charter will square off against North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Fort Myers, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-35 victory against Dunbar on the 23rd.
