If the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets were riding high off their 52-21 takedown of the East Knox Bulldogs last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mt. Vernon fell 46-38 to Ashland on Saturday. If Mt. Vernon hoped to take revenge for the 48-45 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Ashland was led to victory by Madison Hoffman and Kennedy Lacey. Hoffman scored 12 points along with two steals, while Lacey scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Huckleberry, who scored five points along with five assists.
Mt. Vernon's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Ashland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Mt. Vernon will head out on the road to challenge Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lexington and Mt. Vernon are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Ashland, they will play host again and welcome West Holmes, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Holmes will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
