Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Gurdon). They put the hurt on the Kirby Trojans with a sharp  11-1 win on Monday. The Go-Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six  runs or more this season.
 Aiden Hughes made a big impact no matter where he played. He  pitched one inning while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That  stolen base was  his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Nate Newton was a standout: he scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 2-for-2.  Bradyn King was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
 Gurdon  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .593. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Gurdon's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Kirby, their defeat was  their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-6.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gurdon will head out to  face off against Fordyce  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Kirby, they will face off against Cossatot River at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
