Eldorado is 0-7 against Cimarron-Memorial since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Sundevils will venture away from home to take on the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Eldorado came up short against Chaparral on Friday, falling 32-22. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (19), the Sundevils still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Cimarron-Memorial got themselves on the board against Canyon Springs on Wednesday, but Canyon Springs never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 23-0 margin over the Pioneers. Considering the Spartans have won 11 matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Elaine Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hernandez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cimarron-Memorial got a massive performance out of Jasslyn Ramos, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs Ramos has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Taylor Ramos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Cimarron-Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Eldorado suffered a grim 24-4 defeat to Cimarron-Memorial in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Sundevils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
