Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cardinal Newman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teonna Draughn, who scored 31 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Draughn has scored all season. Zaria Thompson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Legacy Early College 56-18. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gray Collegiate Academy in their matchups with Legacy Early College: they've now lost three in a row.
Kadence Walker-lee was Gray Collegiate Academy's leading scorer, having posted six points. Walker-lee also led the team in rebounds with six.
Diamond Tatum took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Cardinal Newman's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-11.
Cardinal Newman took their victory against Gray Collegiate Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 by a conclusive 51-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cardinal Newman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
