The Linden Lions lost against the Weston Ranch Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Linden took a serious blow against Weston Ranch, falling 131-35. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linden in their matchups with Weston Ranch: they've now lost four in a row.
Mateen Rafiq was his usual excellent self, going 14 for 22 from beyond the arc en route to 42 points and 4 assists for Weston Ranch. Rafiq is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Banks, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 assists.
Linden dropped their record down to 8-19 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Weston Ranch, the victory was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-3.
Linden does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Weston Ranch, they will head out on the road to face off against Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Modesto Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
