Holy Name is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Elyria Catholic is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Green Wave will welcome the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holy Name is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Holy Name proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Green Wave have posted since April 7th.
Not much got past Lucy Reis, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin off the board. Reis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Holy Name saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Stephens, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Emmalee Majoros also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Elyria Catholic faced off against St. Joseph Academy on Wednesday. The Panthers blew past the Jaguars 12-2. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Megan Stang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits.
At the plate, Elyria Catholic let Jessica Conner and Nadia Pagan run wild. Conner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Pagan went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That's the most runs Pagan has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Ciryak, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Elyria Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph Academy only posted an OBP of .409.
Holy Name's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Elyria Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Holy Name hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Elyria Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Holy Name suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Elyria Catholic when the teams last played back in March. Will the Green Wave have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
