On Sunday, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes was able to grind out a solid victory over Salesianum, taking the game 64-51. The victory was all the more spectacular given St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 39th in Virginia, while Salesianum is ranked third in Delaware).
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Ross, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Ross continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Riley Jacobs was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Salesianum, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will face off against Georgetown Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Georgetown Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. As for Salesianum, they will head out on the road to square off against Middletown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
