Blake George made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Hesston Edens was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Jackson Chabra also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Prairie View made easy work of Boulder on Friday and carried off an 8-2 victory. Considering the Thunderhawks have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Prairie View got a massive performance out of Preston Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases and three runs. Miller continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Tarin, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Prairie View pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Brighton, their record is now 12-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brighton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Prairie View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
