The Wendover Wildcats had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over West Wendover. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wendover also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Wendover got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shawn Duboise out in front who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Duboise has scored at least 25% of Wendover's points. Another player making a difference was Raul Valle, who scored 12 points.
Wendover's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for West Wendover, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-8 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Wendover will be home for the holidays to greet St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Wendover, they will head out on the road to face off against Yerington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yerington is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
