The Malone Tigers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 57-47 victory over Poplar Springs on Thursday. For Malone, this counts as revenge for the 42-39 defeat Poplar Springs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Leading Malone to victory were Hoke Harkrider and Jackson Welch. Harkrider scored 13 points along with five steals, while Welch dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Harkrider continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamerious Sims, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Malone's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Poplar Springs, they bumped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Malone won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cottondale at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Cottondale will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Poplar Springs, they will be playing at home against Rehobeth at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
