Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Mitchell Mountaineers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of Mount Airy on Friday. The low total for Mitchell limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
Caleb Cook threw for 35 yards on three of ten attempts. Kadan Phillips was his top target, picking up 46 receiving yards. On the ground, Rylan Cooper rushed for 54 yards.
It was another big night for Taeshon Martin, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Walker Stroup got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Mount Airy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Mitchell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mount Airy will be playing in front of their home fans against Murphy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Murphy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
