The Hooks Hornets will face off against the Atlanta Rabbits at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hooks is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Hooks is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Queen City with a sharp 23-1 win last Monday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Peyton Morgan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Stella Fincher and Zoey Greenwood did most of the damage at the plate: Fincher scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Greenwood went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Fincher a new career-high. Keeli Harris was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Hooks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Atlanta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Queen City on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rabbits have posted against the Bulldogs since March 23, 2021.
Gabby Arredondo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Ella Garrett was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double.
Atlanta has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Hooks, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hooks has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Atlanta struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hooks took their victory against Atlanta in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rabbits turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
