The West Valley Eagles will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Orland Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, West Valley won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Yreka 8-7.
Among those leading the charge was Jack Casey, who picked up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Orland had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.7 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. Everything went their way against Gridley as Orland made off with a 35-14 win. Orland might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Orland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Manny Rodriguez, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Rico, who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
West Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Orland, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
West Valley might still be hurting after the 32-7 loss they got from Orland when the teams last played back in September. Can West Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
