The Spalding Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Westside Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Spalding will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, Spalding blew past West Laurens, posting a 43-6 win at home. The result was nothing new for Spalding, who have now won five matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Curt Clark continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Clark's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Robert Henderson was in the mix as well, providing Spalding with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Westside beat Griffin 29-16 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Westside.
Westside can attribute much of their success to Kadiphius Iverson, who rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns, and Jessie Bell, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
Spalding's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Westside has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matchups, giving them a 6-1 record.
Everything went Spalding's way against Westside in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Spalding made off with a 39-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spalding since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
