Given Clear Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Clear Lake is ranked 433rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Clear Creek had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Clear Brook 43-6 on the road. With Clear Creek ahead 34-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Their wins bumped Clear Springs to 4-4 and Clear Creek to 6-1.
Everything came up roses for Clear Springs against Clear Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clear Springs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
