Shenango is a perfect 10-0 against New Brighton since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Shenango is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Shenango barely beat Riverside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 11-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcats have posted against the Panthers since April 18, 2019.
Kennedi Lynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brianna Aluisia was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Herb, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Aluisia wasn't the only one making solid contact: Shenango kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Wildcats are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, New Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northgate.
Sundi Fazio put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. Fazio was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Fazio wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Liza Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
New Brighton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Shenango, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything went Shenango's way against New Brighton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Shenango made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
