The Hampton Crabbers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Kecoughtan Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hampton beat Oscar Smith 65-60.
Malik Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Daron Baugh, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Kecoughtan didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Warwick on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 68-62 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kecoughtan.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kecoughtan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Suber, who scored 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcel Pace, who scored 18 points.
Hampton's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Kecoughtan, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Hampton hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 65.1 points per game. It's a different story for Kecoughtan, though, as they've been averaging only 69.7 points per game. The only thing between Hampton and another offensive beatdown is Kecoughtan. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Hampton was able to grind out a solid win over Kecoughtan when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 71-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hampton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
