The Medfield Warriors will head out to challenge the Norwood Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Medfield has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, it was close, but Medfield sidestepped Bellingham for an 8-6 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Blackhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Connor Hanna made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hanna was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Fessenden, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Cj Herrick was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Medfield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Norwood hadn't done well against Hopkinton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Mustangs walked away with a 6-2 win over the Hillers. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Luke Walsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Sam Larkee was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Grenham, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.
Medfield's record now sits at 9-2. As for Norwood, their record is now 6-4.
Norwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Medfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for Norwood, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Medfield's hitters?
Medfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Norwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
