Jasiah Jervis and Hassan Koureissi were among the main playmakers for Archbishop Stepinac as the former went 7 of 12 on his way to 24 points along with seven boards and three steals and the latter went 6 of 11 en route to 18 points and three steals. Jervis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Carbuccia, who posted seven points and nine assists.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Raymond Boys). They rang in the new year with an 84-75 win over Cardinal Hayes on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ravens.
St. Raymond Boys had a senior duo take command as Brandon Stores, Jr. went 6 of 14 on his way to 21 points and Tai Turnage went 5 of 10 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of NaJay Bess, who had 13 points.
Archbishop Stepinac has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for St. Raymond Boys, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Archbishop Stepinac and St. Raymond Boys are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Archbishop Stepinac hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 65.3 points per game. However, it's not like St. Raymond Boys struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Archbishop Stepinac came up short against St. Raymond Boys when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 57-51. Can Archbishop Stepinac avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
