The River Valley Dust Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Odyssey Institute as River Valley made off with a 78-55 victory. The victory was a breath of fresh air for River Valley as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
River Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nysaiah Vargas, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten assists, and nine steals. Vargas has been hot recently, having posted ten or more assists the last three times he's played. Gabriel Short was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
River Valley's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14. As for Odyssey Institute, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
River Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Shamrocks at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Yuma Catholic will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. As for Odyssey Institute, they will be playing at home against the Guardians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
