Considering the Warriors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Regan Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rylin Yee and Quinn Corbett did most of the damage at the plate: Yee went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI, while Corbett went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Crowley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Westmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win snapped Westmont's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record. As for Ann Sobrato, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Ann Sobrato's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westmont, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ann Sobrato continue to outrun the ball?
