The Northwestern Trojans posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 71-50 margin over York. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Northwestern has posted against York since January 5, 2016.
Mason Mitchell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Jordan, who scored 11 points.
York's loss came despite strong showings from Brenden Lacroix and Jaxon Wilkins-Graham. Lacroix scored 14 points, while Wilkins-Graham scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilkins-Graham has scored all season.
Northwestern has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for York, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern will take on South Pointe at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for York, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. on January 19th. Lancaster presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than York in South Carolina (Lancaster is ranked 22nd, while York is ranked 180th).
