Aurora Central is 8-2 against Gateway since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trojans will host the Olympians at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Aurora Central took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Skyview 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since May 11, 2024.

Kalai Bentosino made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Aurora Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise. Bentosino was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jorge De Los Santos was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Gateway entered their tilt with Thornton on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Trojans 17-3. While the Olympians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Gateway let Angel Ferrusquia and Mervin Loya run wild. Ferrusquia scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Loya scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Loya is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Roberto Rosario, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Gateway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Aurora Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Gateway, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
