Football Recap: Chapin Piles Up the Points Against Horizon

Chapin won the last time they faced Horizon and things went their way on Friday too. The Huskies blew past the Scorpions 49-20. The Huskies pushed the score to 49-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Scorpions cut but never quite recovered from.

Daveon Singleton was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 169 yards and three scores on only ten carries. Those 169 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joshua Martel, who rushed for 71 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Chapin's run defense was locked in: Horizon could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Enoch Barrios for the heroic effort on defense: he. Chapin didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.8.

Chapin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nate Sanchez and Landon Payton. Chapin received some extra help from Adam Rivera, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Horizon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Isaiah Aguilera, who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Abraham Barraza, who picked up 101 receiving yards and one score.

Chapin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Horizon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
