The St. Pauls Bulldogs's game on Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past Broughton 61-41.
Jashontae Harris was on fire: she shot 4-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 36 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of St. Pauls' points. Zhariana Shipman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Kalajah Wright and Tanner Townsend certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wright scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals, while Townsend scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The contest was Wright's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Risinger, who scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Broughton were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pauls only pulled down eight.
St. Pauls now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Broughton, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Pauls will take on Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas Byrd focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Broughton, they will head out on the road to face off against Green Hope at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
