The Discovery Canyon Thunder came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 46-38 win over Palmer Ridge. For Discovery Canyon, this counts as revenge for the 49-38 defeat Palmer Ridge walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Discovery Canyon found their leader in underclassman Hugh Tarpenning, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Tarpenning hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Michah Rohacs, who scored seven points.
Discovery Canyon pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Palmer Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Discovery Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Rampart at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Rampart's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Palmer Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Pueblo County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Pueblo County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Tuesday.
