4A Pikes Peak recap September 17, 2013
Elway Tubbs and Jaquan Overbey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Cheyenne Mountain. The connection went for 70 yards, the longest such play in 4A Pikes Peak this season.
Ponderosa was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Mustangs defeated Widefield 49-0 earlier in the week.
Colt Wise was a key player and the best on defense this week as Rampart lost to Lewis-Palmer. The 6-foot-3 defensive back.
Overbey was the best receiver in the league this week as Vista Ridge defeated the Indians. Overbey racked up 4 receptions for 123 yards. Tyrique Armstrong helped Vista Ridge's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 86 yards.
Micheal DeCarmo provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sand Creek beat Sierra. He completed 11 passes for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 151 yards. DeCarmo's key target this week was Jordan Preston, who caught 5 passes for 91 yards.
Cameron Hacker threw for 168 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 14-28 with 0 interceptions.
DeCarmo was the most successful running back in 4A Pikes Peak this week. Daniel Quin also contributed to the rushing game with 144 yards on the ground.
Hacker put up the best numbers in passing as the Rams lost to the Rangers. Hacker's favorite target this week was Quincy Marshall, who caught 4 passes for 64 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Clayton Hacker. The Rampart star has 17 catches for 297 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Falcon takes on Rampart. The Falcons are currently in second, while JJ Owens' team is in fourth.
Falcon took down George Washington 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kalen Ballage ran for 102 yards and caught 1 passes for 66 yards during the win.
