Arcola strolled into their game  on Monday with a perfect  record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Villa Grove Blue Devils  an   8-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Purple Riders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Brevyn Whisman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only two  hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Tanner Thomas, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Jackson Griffith, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
Arcola's victory was  their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Villa Grove, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Arcola is set to  take on  their familiar foe Okaw Valley  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Villa Grove will  challenge  rival Sullivan  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
