If El Capitan/Centennial Academy were riding high off their 65-11 takedown of the Seligman Antelopes last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. El Capitan/Centennial Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 52-51 to the Redskins.
Red Mesa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daleni Nakai, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Nakai has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyla Pipkin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Red Mesa, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-12.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Red Mesa will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Michael is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
